Question:
I have been an avid fisherman for years. I just bought an older 14 foot
two man fiberglass boat it has a foot control trolling motor but no
outboard, I need advice on what size motor to put with it. The boat is
called a Tide Water Bayou Craft and was made in Minden La. If anyone has
any knowledge of these boats sure would be helpful. It is built similiar
to the old Terry Bass of Power Cat Bass boats. There is no horsepower
rating on the plate or the title.

If you contact the nearest Coast Guard Stations they can be a big help.
Beside the Manufactures Ratings the Coast Guard maintains ratings for
certain boat lengths and there HP ratings. For example a standard 21 ft
Glass boat may have a Manufacturing Rating of 250hp but the coast Guard
standard is 300hp.. The only note is if you are like me and tourney fish
this may prevent your enter, because the tourney recognize manufacture
ratings...
