Question:
I'm looking for a functional sailing model for my boys. They are not yet
to the age where RC is a viable idea, yet (though a small 24 inch sailboat
sans RC might be, like the Huson from Dumas or one of the AC 12 M
mini-replicas).
What I'm thinking of would be like the Woodkrafters Sprite kit (9, 12, and
15 inch; I'd like the 15 inch), though if I don't find one, I may settle
for the Woodkrafters Ariel (9 and 12 inch sizes).
We have ONE 12 inch Sprite, and it sails _wonderfully_ (sails like it is on
rails). I'd love to have a pair of the 15 inch Sprite. But I'm open to
suggestions...
non-RC model sailboat?
Answer:
Saw an interesting article in, I believe, Parents magazine. I was reading it
while waiting in the doctors office the other day.
They had plans and described a simple non-RC
cat. style sail boat. The article showed a whole group of kids and parents
involved with a model sail boat race. The author's child had entered
the soda bottle boat - and had won! The boat looked fairly good and best of all
it really worked well. If anyone else saw this - maybee they can help with
details on what issue it was in.
