Question:
I am trying to pin down how much my trailer weighs. My pontoon boat (23 foot
Bennington) weighs 1960 lbs dry (according to the manual) . My 90 HP Honda
is around 400 lbs. But I am not sure how much my trailer weighs.
The trailer is the type that holds each pontoon with two support boards.
It's called a wolverine and has a three step ladder in front and has two
axels (total of 4 wheels). Can someone take a guess what an average pontoon
boat trailer can weigh?
Answer:
-Your local scrap metal dealer will have a scale, and will usually weigh
you for a reasonable fee ($5 to $10 is typical). That's what I did
when I was trying to determine whether or nor the boat and trailer were
within the limits of my truck. It also gives you a starting point for
adjusting tongue weight.
-Go to the local dump. they will tell you what it weighs, no fees normally.
Only a fee if you need a certified weight.
