Question:
Need info on O'Day sail boat
I was just given an oday day-sailor. About 14ft long.
I don't have a model number for it yet.
I've looked all over the net for info on o'days to no
avail.
Can anyone provide any info? Like who builds o'days, are
they still in operation, address, phone number. etc.
The boat is in good shape with the exception of the boom.
Hence I'll need to order some parts.
Answer:
-O'Day has been out of operation since the late 80's but they are still
very popular and I have heard several rumors that the molds have been
purchased and they will soon be in production again, with a new owner.
No more information than that.
There is an O'Day/Cal owner's group that publishes a newsletter. It is
called the Captain's Log and the address is P.O. Box 684, Assonet, MA
02702. Their e-mail address is g...@usa1.com. They have owner's
manuals available for many of the daysailers and cruisers O'Day made.
-The best place to contact regarding O'Day parts is Rudy at D&R marine.
Phone him at 508-644-3001
Although he is very busy, he has many O'Day parts. They make hatches
from the original molds. I saw a brand new one for a 22, freshly made,
in his shop last weekend. He has many sails as well. I just bought a
jib for my O'Day 22 (1973). He has several high quality UK sails from
Cape Dory that may fit your boat (mine had to be modified a bit).
