Question:
homemade pontoon boat ?
I was on the Shenandoah river in North Va. (front royal) this weekend
and saw something amazing. Dozens of bass fishers in what looked
like identical but custom painted "styrofoam pontoon lawnchairs". I
never did get around to asking them where they got the plans. I
thought a google search would turn them up, but so far, no luck.
anyone know what these things are? where to get plans?
Answer:
- Could be one of two different items. There is a pontoon lawn chair sold for
pools. Trh Leslie pools they probably have a website. Or is could be a
kick boat. they are the latest float tube variation.
http://www.floatnfly.com/rigged/gilkb.html is an example from a google
search with "kick Boat".
- I have the Hobie Float Cat which may look like a floating lawn chair but it
is a tremendous bass fly fishing machine - for selected waters. You can
kick this with fins but I mounted a modified Minnkota trolling motor which
gives me 5 speeds forward and two in reverse and I can turn on a dime all
without oars! Hobie pontoons are virtually indestructible but other firms
make inflatable pontoon personal water craft.
Oh yeah, some guys fish with spin and casting rigs from them also.
